In December 2003, five members of the Loudoun County SCRC Chapter decided it was time to start a chapter on "this side of the mountain" - the mountain that separates the Winchester/Front Royal area from the true Washington DC suburbs. After gaining the approval of the State, Regional and National Officers, the Upper Shenandoah Valley Chapter was born with five charter members.
The Officers know they are members first and they listen to what the membership wants their club to be. With that in mind, in June 2006, the Chapter membership present at the regular monthly meeting voted unanimously to change the Chapter's name to Apple Valley.
We're very comfortable welcoming new members. Since May 2006, we've welcomed about forty new members to the Apple Valley family! Don't worry about not fitting in, either. We've got people from all walks of life in the Chapter. From firemen and police officers, to school teachers, salespeople, secretaries and the self-employed business owner, you'll find someone you can relate to. Everyone is welcome as long as you have a street-legal motorcycle and an "M" endorsement on your license.
Apple Valley SCRC is involved with charity fund-raising rides and events, local and long-distance rides, overnighters and club dinner rides, and of course the unknown rides which may lead us anywhere. We also promote motorcycle and public safety rules, and under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will we be involved in any illegal activities.
At the beginning of each riding season, we sponsor a refresher course to polish your riding skills. It is highly recommended that all members attend this annual event, no matter how experienced.
We have a monthy Chapter dinner meeting which can vary in time and place so that every one can have the opportunity to attend and take part. At these meetings, we discuss upcoming events, ideas for future rides, and simply enjoy the fellowship of dinner with friends of similar interests.
We also have an informal monthly social. The venue for this varies each time. Check the NEWS & EVENTS page for the time and location of our next meeting or social. You're welcome to attend!
We do ask a few things from our members:
We use our message forum to communicate with one another daily. The most recent discussions are listed below. Feel free to join in.
